I think it's more to do with peoples budgets and fuel costs rather than the distance

Question for the promoters if they still come on here and read everything we try give them as imput. Will there still be big prize money at Tassienats like I read somewhere to try and get a decent amount of mainland racers over so we can actually see some decent seper sedan and comp car racing? I notice John Zappia is listed as yet another "Mainland Feature Car" so I presume he will be getting paid a shitload to come over and all the prize money goes out the window yet again? I mean he's not going to bring his car over from WA for nothing. Isn't this one thing the majority of people of people said they'd rather not see at the next Tassienats? Isn't it supposed to be about drag racing, not demo runs by a car which won't even have a full tune in it. I know I'm wasting my time pouring thousands and thousands of dollars into my car so I can actually run some quick times in the next season as I can see this being our last one.......Looks like Powercruise once a year will be the only time it will actually get to be used properly

i agree,as soon as i saw John Zappia's name i thought of Darren morgans big dollar half track runs.Personnaly i would rather see Tough street cars doing 8's and nines than Zappia,Morgan,Bray,Stephens and all the like.Should have enticed some of the streeters that race at heathcote and calder with some more prize money

That is exactly my point, most people would rather go and watch some quality racing. I know when I've gone to Sydney to spectate watching the Super Sedans, Super Gas, etc are actually really good classes with huge entry numbers and a majority of cars you can recognise as something you would see on the street.
Obviously all the input and ideas which they were asking for before the season started went in one ear and out the other. I'm seriously biting my tongue here

i'm with you there ryan!!!

sure tassienats will draw a decent field of local cars... it always does... but i'd love to see it worth while... i'd love to see some coin offered that'd make drivers wet their pants to run!!!

STREET: 2k prize pool...
1st - $1500
2nd - $400
3rd - $100

SUPER STREET: 5k prize pool...
1st - $3500
2nd - $1000
3rd - $500

SUPER SEDAN: 8k prize pool...
1st - $5000
2nd - $2000
3rd - $1000

COMP CARS: 15k prize pool...
1st - $10000
2nd - $3500
3rd - $1500

thats a total of $30,000...
or, not a great deal more than it cost to have Darren Morgan come down to race... i think it was 10k per pass for insurance alone??? then appearance fee's???

i know that big money would bring bigger numbers of entrants and with that bigger crowds!!!
i'd be absolutely going at it hardcore to try and win my class... imagine how it'd be!!!

bugger the invitational cars... put up enough money to make it hard to resist for racers and watch the gates get beaten down!!!

to keep things running smoothly cap entrants at 40 cars per class...
- first in first served?
- send a photo and info sheet about your car ala. Motorvation in Perth, Summernats in Canberra?

make entry fee's $100 for drivers (includes breakfast and free entry for one spectator/pit crew)... there's 100x160 = $16,000...

gate entry $10 per person over 15... $20 per family... kids under 15 free... 2,500 spectators (like in the old days when you had to walk to the end of the track to get a spot and stand up ALL night because there was no room for chairs!) @ $10 ea is another $25,000 give or take for families etc...

add in corporate sponsorship which would pull in an unknown amount of money???...

bring in the food vans, a coffee van doing good coffee and warm drinks - spectators love that - the merchandise dudes...

race from 12 noon till the day is finished...

pump the cars through quicker...
burnouts START when the previous car is about 100 meters over the line... cars stage and are set off as soon as the braking area is clear...

the spectators want action and they want it thick and fast!!!
Street and SuperStreet no burnouts over the start line, that helps speed things up...

blah i could go on all day....... anyway...

Well said Cakes......but the thing is...this sort of advice has been given to the management time and time again and what are they doing? the same old fucking thing that keeps losing them money...that is a WOFTAM if you ask me.. the format as above is nearly the same as was advertised on the NT TV for the 2008 outback shootout in Roma
this was the setup

Ironbark Raceway invite all racers out for a Fun weekend on 4th and 5th October to race in the shoot out.
Classes are for juinor Dragster,Bike,Cars 8.50(1/8 mile)slower, cars 8.49(1/8th)quicker and if we get enough pre nomanations will make a Modifed class(TBC).
Total prize money $6000.
EACH class will get $1000 winner $500 runner up.
gates open 12 noon
quilifing Saturday from 3pm till 9pm
Racing from 8am
$100 entry with option of 1 buy back in after first round $50
We have free camping, toilets and HOT showers in pits area with canteen and bar area.you can get entry forms from web site and have a look at the aerial pics. http://www.swdra.hwy54.com.au
track record is ET 5.09 and it would be great to see someone give it up tune up.If you have hear about us then This is a great time to come out and race.
Hope to hear from you that you are coming!

this is a track in bloody Roma... IMHO hire someone who knows what they are doing and runs it like a business and as Golloway states in A few good men..But my feeling is that if this track is handled in the same fast-food, slick-a*s ' Persian Bazaar manner with which you seem to handle everything else, something's gonna get missed. And I wouldn't be doing my job if I allowed the Tasmanian Drag strip to be closed down, because their track promoter had pre-determined the path of least resistance.

Exactly my point. With prize money offers like that it would be good incentive for mainland cars to come over. A majority of Super Sedans, Supercharged Outlaws, Competition Eliminator and all Super Gas will qualify for Comp Cars so there would be a really mixed field with a huge entry number

and when it was put to the racers what format they would like to run the majarity voted for the Chicago Shootout method...something the track needs to upgrade the computer system to run this type of format

the Outlaw track also has a great idea.....$100 entry with option of 1 buy back in after first round $50 (like a rebuy in a poker tourney)

so many ideas....so little action
