Hi all,
Changing steering wheels on the VN at the moment, but i've struck a minor issue....
Undid the nut on the column
Screwed the steering wheel puller on
then wound on it and proceeded to bend the steering wheel puller in half! and the wheel aint budging
So. Before i get an even bigger hammer then bash the beejeezus out of it, any tricks anyone knows of??
Cheers!

put the nut back on and have it a little loose (arount 2mm from the steering wheel) get a long bar (a 1/2 drive extension bar will work) put the bar ontop of the nut and hit the bar with the hammer - its worked many a time for me on the cars i have owned and never collapsed a steering column yet

Sounds like someone has over tightened the steering wheel and jammed it onto the taper to me
Seen it done many times before, had one at work where the puller actually pulled back through the slots in the wheel itself.
Something I have always had success with is pull your seat rigth forward, jam your knees up behind the steering wheel putting weight against it as if to pull it off, now with your hands hit the back of the steering wheel on both sides (one then the other repeatedly) it may take some time but you will eventually get it.

Thanks for the help guys!
In the end i got it off using a combo of soaking it in CRC all week, bashing f**k outta the back of the wheel either side for 10-15 mins then winding the seat forward, jamming in my knees and reefing it off... Yay for the steering wheel coming off!!
