Hey guys,

I had mum's car yesterday and went for a walk up the top of the mountain with a friend. We wandered a bit further away than expected, and it took us a while to get back again. When we arrived back at the car we found the front passenger side window smashed and her handbag stolen. Total value of the contents of her bag exceeded $2000 so she's pretty distraught.

Stolen from the car was:

Digital camera - Olympus Digital 600 (Serial number A50502893).
Brand new Motorola RAZR V3xx (IMEI 354078-01-051588-8, has since been blocked so no good to anyone).
R.M. Williams wallet (patchwork purple leather type of thing).
And the bag itself is like patchwork white leather with some silver patches.
House keys.
Car keys.

The car was parked next to the boardwalk on the western side of the summit on Mt Wellington, and was unattended from about 3pm till 3:40pm. It is a white Toyota Echo for anyone that may have seen it up there and remembers seeing anything suspicious. Damage to the car is the smashed window, and a dented window frame where it was hit with something long and hard by the looks of it (rather than an oppotunist using a rock). So that suggests that whatever low life did this came prepared with the tools planning to commit the crime.

Aside from the obvious loss of material possesions, perhaps the worst thing is that the camera had a heap of photo's from a recent trip away and of her 15 month old son that she hadn't downloaded to her computer yet. And the worst thing of all to lose is of course your memories and seeing your child grow up.

If anyone knows or hears anything regarding this matter could you please contact me on 0407236727.

Thanks,

Aidan.

No Offence but she shouldn't of cancelled/blocked the phone yet because Telstra can track any SIM card that is put in the phone and that is a way of tracking who could of broken into it!

On another note not cool at all hope you find out who did it!

It was a Vodafone phone, who we found to have some of the poorest customer service around so it's unlikely they would track it. She wasn't given that option when she reported it stolen either. But for all I know they may record calls associated with that IMEI anyway so I'll definitely look into it. Cheers.

Maybe its something you can ask the Police about when we have had phones stolen from work the Police get involved and they contact Telstra and then they got back to me with the number that was being used in the mobile.
