I've recently put a Pioneer head unit in my VY and unfortunately this headunit does not have a remote wire for the electric aerial wich means the arial is always up when in the car is turned on, even with the headunit turned of with the car on it still stay's up.

Does anyone know if there's a fuse just for the aerial?? if so I'll just pull it out.

I dont know if i can disconect the aerial from the back of the headunit as on some headunits they wont work unless the aerialis pluged in.

Another thing I could do is put a switch in along the aerialcable so that when I want the aerial up I just hit the switch.

Has anyone had or have this same problem? And is there anyother way to over come this??

A simple solution would be to use the Remote wire that comes from the headunit, it supplies power whenever the headunit is turned on, it is usually used to switch amplifiers on etc..

That would work in my mind ;)

Yes, with remote the aeiral is always up. Lots of talk about this on LS1.com.au. This is part of the reason I got an Alpine H/U, has remote out and electric aerial out. My old Pioneer does too, but the have removed it from new models.

If you connect the remote out it will only power the aerial when the head unit is switched on.
Switch it off and the aerial should go down.

Yes there is the issue that the aerial will be up even when you are listening to CD's but its a small price to pay.
Other option is to do like Murf did and put a switch on it so you can switch it on to power the aerial when listening to the radio or off when listening to CD's.

Pioneer only has the one remote wire which you simply split and send to the amps and the aerial.

I got three of them here and they are all the same. They range from the cheapest entry level model right through to one of the upper end models.

Just put in a little hidden switch somewhere to put the aerial up and down manually. That's what I did in the Trans Am (hid it in the ashtray) and I think Murf did the same thing in the ute.

I think the switch cost me about 85c and it only took a few minutes to wire up :)

Is there more than 1 wire for the aerial? Its just that the aerial wire looks huge and thought that maybe there's more than 1 in there.
