is airbag suspension legal in tassie ? who does it ? would i need a engineering certificate ? and roughly if anyone knows what would be a rough price for someone to do it let me know i've seen kits avertised for like $3000 but you would have to pay for someone to install it so if anyone knows someone who's had it done how did they go about it.
it's just an idea if i wanted to do it i would say it's a future future future mod like a few years down the track if money allows it of course.

Airbags are not illegal in the state of Tasmania as long as they have been engineered. You would want to get an engineers certificate anyway (i.e. it would be in your best interests) as a wrongly installed set up could cost you your life.
Some brands of air bag suspension are better than others - do your research and ask around as to what the best set ups are. I have heard Burnin Customs and TTSS (or something like that - they have an advert in Street Commodores mag) are very good. Dodgy cheap set ups will result in you bursting bags, or worse.
As far as I know no-one in Tassie advertises being able to fit the kits. I'm sure if you asked around some suspension places who do airbag suspension in buses and trucks, they would be able to give you a quote.
All the cars I have come across in Tassie that have air bags have been installed on the mainland.
You can buy DIY kits but I wouldnt recommend you putting it in yourself unless you know what you are doing 100%.
Hope that helps

at the moment i think theres only one kit avail in the country that comes with an engineers certificate, not sure if it has to be installed at this place or not. its the kit that Jase put in STREET. plenty of people know how to install in tassie them but none are qualified!!!

Airbags on commodores are not all that hard, majority of install is the plumbing - due to comma set up being on strut style bag setup. and No airbags are not illegal in Tasmania and never will be - due to many factory vehicles coming out with them.however any part of vehicle going below 100mm is illegal - and can be defected for this - even though majority of vehicles on roads are below 100mm. Engineering a bag of strut style set up shouldnt be prob as long as done properly. Tubular suspension systems are someone I would stay away from - James will tell you waht u wanna hear but wont be able to make your ride lay lower than compressed super lows, Cali Customz - Louis is amazing - Burnin - Stu and Brendan there work is perfect and recomment them highly - if want more try ol mate livinglow.com.au for perfection. You probably looking at around 5500 - 7k for a decent quality set up. Stay away from Chassis tech gear such as there red or blue valves as they are dudds, also the DC5000 comppressers are also rather loud and annoying - would recommend another type or style compresser - VLAIR are good.
Also you want be able to run bigger lines than 3/8 which is perfect speed for a strut set up.
Hope that helps.
