Did your mates/your car have an alarm?
Was it Locked? (Stupid question but thats how it normally happens)
If u find out who did the tacho, try and get photo as evidence and u need a receipt of some sort for cops to believe you had it in the first place... cops will do something if the groundwork has been done.

sorry but im with you mate i had my vl stolen the cop got the ppl that did it i never got my alpine stereo back or all the damage to the car payed for all they got was a good behaviour bond
and they when back to sit on the dole (which part of my taxs pay for)
and do it again
sometimes the only way ppl learn is with a few broken bones
hope you get your stuff back mate
