What a great weekend of the ARC.
Held in and around the forest surrounding Geeveston, we had it all. Blown gearboxes, rolls, you name it it just about happened.
Quote from ARC website "Cody Crocker is unquestionably on his way to re-writing the Australian rally history books after notching up yet another victory at this weekends Subaru Safari in Tasmania. The win gives him a perfect record this year, winning all six of the events he has entered, including two Internationals and all three GARC Super Series Rounds. For his rivals though it’s becoming an all too familiar sight.
Scott Pedder backed up his runner-up finish in yesterday's first Heat with another solid performance. He finished the day 33.2 seconds behind Crocker, and claimed the second podium position for the round- his first podium finish this year, and also Mitsubishi's.
Last year's Subaru Safari winner Juha Kangas was engaged in an intense battle with Dean Herridge and Scott Pedder over Sunday's 8 stages. He finished the day 6.1 seconds behind Herridge, but his combined results over the two days saw him earn the final podium position.
Crocker now sits on 123 points, and has extended his championship lead over team mate Herridge to 53 points. Scott Pedder's solid performance this weekend moves him to 3rd outright in the GARC, while a disappointing weekend for Simon Evans drops him to 4th"
On the Saturday Simon Evans had been in the lead of the event after the third stage with a gap of 2.2 seconds over rival Cody Crocker but just 100 metres before the flying finish of the stage, Evans ran wide and rolled lightly onto his roof but is continuing after dropping some time. This incident cost him over 10 minutes after Evans, co-driving wife Sue and the officials on hand struggled to get the upturned Corolla back onto its wheels.
It seems that the forests of Southern Tassie haven't been too kind to Evans over the past 2 years.

Simon always has a positive attitude no matter what happens to him.
I ran the DEC stage last year.
The 2 reasons the DEC wasn't run was the Glenorchy Council have started development of the aquarium thingo out there, and the second was they couldn't really see the logic in the time lost travelling back to the city to complete a stage up here. They prefered to run more stages in the bush. This round had the most stages run a total of 20.
There is talk of building a track similar to the DEC in Geeveston. The Forestry dept have some vacant land and discussions are underway for next year.
Forestry have bent over backwards in accommodating the series in Geeveston.

I didn't drive, I was the Stage Commander - bloke in charge.
This year I had a different role of Chief Spectator Marshal.
Got to set up all the spectator points - and watch some decent rallying.
If you see on page 36 in today's mercury of Mitchells accident I was there when it happened. Once they pulled him out his gearbox shat itself and he couldn't continue. You will also see a boulder on the left hand on 3 of the photo's, about 5 cars after mitchells a Subaru took the corner wide clipped the boulder and the a*se end got air bourne. We thought he was going to flip for sure.
