i cant draw sorry.
Im not even part of the club! I hope to be soon though! (PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE LET ME IN!!
)
I dont like the idea of the website address however if i may say so. Been done. Why be like everyone else when we could be different. Actually scrub that, this IS the COMMONDORE club!!
Yeah anyway a catchy picture with some initials would look the goods imo.

Of course you're part of the club - you're here, aren't you?
In some ways I agree with you wrt to the website address - but advertising "CCT" or "The Commodore Club of Tasmania" on a sticker doesn't tell people where to go to find out more about us - whereas with a web address, people can go home, visit the site and check it out.
I like the idea of the HSV logo with a map of Tassie, but we're not an HSV club - so we'd want to be a bit careful of that.
There's already been a few ideas thrown about - this one from dwaynE:

and this one from VS_Clubby185i:

But of course any other suggestions would be welcome. We're also working on getting permission from Holden to use the logo so that it's all legit and above board.

Such a nice man that Ben
I myself ain't too fussed about what logo we get as long as we get it. The quicker we get it the better I say.
But will you accept morons that are trouble makers and that have more motor offences then we have had hot dinners? Just asking.

Are you saying im not a part of the club 8's?
I will join officialy as soon as my car is up to standards.
If you guys let me of course!
I agree. Keep the dickheads out otherwise the 'Tas Commodore Club' will become just another bad name for The Mercury to pick on. Will there be joining criteria apart from owning a commodore/monaro/calais etc?? Will there be a minimun number of mods? Will there be a compulsary number of cruises one must participate with?
So many questions, so little time.

All of these questions are very good ones, and there's no definite answer yet. This is one reason we're all coming together to discuss things next weekend.
I've made my views very clear - personally I think membership should be open (no restrictions) - if you own a Commodore, you're welcome. In my opinion it's not really important whether your car is modified or not. Others may disagree.
But you're right - we certainly do need to keep the dickheads out. One of the ways we're doing that is by charging a membership fee (amount to be decided - but it won't break the bank) so that people who participate with us are people who really care about where we're going, and put their money where their mouth is. And we certainly won't tolerate any misbehaving on the road while participating in club sanctioned events.
I don't think anyone has brought up the idea of members participating in a minimum number of events (correct me if I'm wrong) - I think that's a great idea. We'd have to work out what's fair and reasonable though, depending on how many events we run, and how often.
Yes, VLHero, you're an unofficial member at the moment - exactly the same as everyone else here. Until the club is a legal organisation and we start charging members their fees, it's the same for all of us.
And Pushrod8s, I don't think we would hold member's prior driving history against them - having said that, we can't be associated with people who misbehave on the roads.
I have another suggestion now - perhaps we should add something to the charter that membership can be revoked, if a member behaves in such a way as to bring the club into disrepute.
For example if you have a TasCommodores sticker on your car, and you're caught doing something stupid that results in negative publicity for the club, then you're out on your ear. No exceptions.
Does anyone disagree with this?

The reason i asked about there being a minimum numbers of event that we would have to attend is well... if you dont come to the events held by the club then really theres not much point being a part of it. I understand that as it currently stands it is $20 per member and any extra costs will have to be paid at a later date. I am interested in coming to the meet at tailrace next sunday but it depends on if my car is up and running properly, theres a few things that still need doing.
As you said Ben, we are all unofficial members so when this club does become legit lets ALL do our best to make sure it is fun for all who join in future, and that no-one does anything to sacrifice the clubs reputation in any way. I fully agree with Ben's stand on that matter by the way.

Ahhhhh Ben i don't own a commodore yet so should i be here?
Well you used to own one! Your family owns them! You have a love of Commodores.... and you will own another one sooner or later... why not?
Oh, and by the way, while I was in Devonport yesterday I saw at least half a dozen, maybe more, tidy modified Commodores driving around - there were HEAPS. Surely some of you know some of these guys!
And VLHero, I agree with you to some extent with regard to encouraging participation. It's just going to be a matter of working out what's fair.
Ideally it'd be nice to run, say 3 or 4 events every 6 months - even if they're not all cruises, some of them might be nights out at the go-karts or trips to the drags, and we expect members to come along to at least one event every 6 months. I think that's pretty reasonable.... and we have to make allowances for the distance factor too. My suggestion is that we have separate cruises/events in the south and north, with one or two combined events each year.

All the questions and comments in this thread are great - I hope all you guys are planning on being just as vocal at the meeting this weekend!
I dont know what everyone else's ideas are, but I am hoping that the Club will turn into a close bunch of friends, and that when club members go to events or cruises, that they (we) will all park together, not just because we are members of the club but because we're all mates.
That's a reason why we wouldn't want anyone in who causes trouble - give anyone a chance once, I say, but if they blow it - too bad. In my opinion, this includes dangerous driving, bad mouthing the club, treating people with disrespect, and all those sorts of things.
Agree????
