*moved from another thread*

Hi guys here's my story - hopefully someone can take something out of it so it doesn't occur to anyone else...

Unfortunately I read this thread a week too late....

Same thing happened to my XR6T on sunday as with Mike's red VX. Went for a test drive (I came too) and pulled over in Lutana to inspect a "suspect noise" under the car. Soon as they (2 of them) had 1/2 a second on me, they were in and gone and I was stranded.

Car filled up on sunday night at a servo in north hobart and did a runner.
Was spotted hooning around Moonah/Springfield on monday morning
Spotted heading south on the Lyell Hwy from New Norfolk around monday lunch time
Spotted by a taxi heading across the Tasman bridge towards the Eastern Shore in the early afternoon
Police intercepted the car late afternoon in Claremont and apprehended 4 people - good result but we all know the punishment will not fit the crime (what punishment?).

RACT are towing the car today from the Glenorchy Police station and I haven't seen it yet so i'm unsure of any damage. But the constable I have been talking to indicated plenty of burnouts have been done (bald tyres), they also put the new spare tyre on and had a go at that. Also rubbish was found in the car as well as a bong (not mine :D ). Great.

I am hoping and crossing my fingers that because the XR6T is built pretty strong there will be no major damage, my car was bordering on immaculate and I really hope it's the same when I pick it up in a few days time.

Also thanks to a few friends for putting message out via facebook and someone I've never met (Hayley) for helping out with the spotto's of the car.
Luckily for me (or not) it wasn't torched.
Will keep you posted i guess.
cheers

dam straight about the punishment...
only fair punishment would be to have a car do a burnout on their face... then after 5 or so full pace hot laps of a car on symmons (they dont get to be in the car) have their genitals placed on the brake pads.

glad to see yet another recovered vehicle and i hope that its fine and still in good condition when you get it back.

Sorry to hear about the car man.

Exactly the same story as with mine... Fairly tidy (dirty but not damaged) your's seems to have copped it worse than mine though with the burnouts.
Could be the same guys that have taken 3 cars that i know of.

Gumtree is how they found mine just so we all know.

Really feel for you mate and they do sound like the same scum bags that stole Postal'sVX, Unfortunately I have never heard of a stolen car that has not been flogged /damaged in some way but here's hoping she is still ok.

luckily for Postal he is not scared of heights and he was able to spot his carfrom a Gumtree, a very tall Gumtree I guess!!!

I see both the examiner and the Mercury are running stories on both incidents mentioned in this thread.

The should be shot, then ask questions later.

Good to see papers putting stories like this on the front page. Good work by the police to for doing something and warning people. Also negative stories about police and V8's and drags on Mercury website though. Glad to see both people got their cars back
