^I tried years ago to get a track day off the ground.. apart from a small hand full of people, the majority were straight liners! It was quiet costly for the track hire, I think a few members joined an affiliated car club and just joined in on the track days.

so long as you are a member of a car club (proper CAMS club) you can do private practise at Symmons. we did a day last year, bout $120 + $15 for a garage. can be on the track from 9-4, there is no timing equipment though, and no ambo or firies, so long as everyone doesn't try and be the next Mark Skaife though, you shouldn't need it.
It was a great day, you can drop friends around the track to video/take pics etc which you can't do at proper track days

well i msgd Bruce from tdra last night and he got back to me rather quick. Track hire is now $3000 but basically thats everything they will supply fire crew and ambulance. So there if we want it to go ahead obviously we need atleast 30 people to pay at $100 upfront or else the day will not go ahead. Gates would open at 10 racing at 12 till 4. So if the interest is there we just need to work out a date and go from there.
