if i was to replace the early v6 motor with the ecotec v6 motor what complications would i be looking at, i imagine the engine mounts etc. would be all the same, manual gearbox in it would bolt up to it (ecotec)? or would i have to source a bellhousing, clutch and flywheel? would i have to relace the computer and/or wiring harness.

thought i would ask as im considering getting a project that has the early v6 and would like to maybe put a L67 out of a vt in it that i could source reasonably cheap or something along those lines...

cheers

The plugs that come out of the drivers side firewall are different between ecotec and buick well one plug Is the same but they can be wired up to make them work
Pretty sure a few little things are different here and there

Will need computer to suit motor

ok,doesnt sound like major dramas, so the engine mounts etc. will be the same, because the car has been mod plated to suit i wouldnt wanna change to much, ultimatley if i had to change it i would much prefer an injected 5 litre.

its not that hard if you are going to use a vt motor just change the loom to a vs loom and computer and just get a chip made up so you dont have to run a bcm
but if you going to run this setup you will have to run a vs or vt gearbox or you can run the ecotec on a vn loom and computer but ther its a bit more stuffing around to get to work but it is worth doing my vn go's very good with the vt motor and auto Posted Image
