vs overheating issues car is overheating while idling

hi all,

my vs is overheating when car is idling, no problems while driving, no noticeable power loss.
i have replaced water pump, thermostat and radiator stumped as to what else it could be .
any ideas would be much appreciated

do a leak test.

i know they r known for doing head gaskets as well the ecotecs

commodore V6 doing head gaskets is hardly a common occurance, if it's only overheating at idle it sounds like an airflow issue through the radiator. Do your thermo fan's come on?

yes thermo fan does come on at the half way mark, it will raise from quarter to half then thermo fan drops it and as soon as the thermo turns off it raises again, and continues at that cycle till i stop the car or get onto a highway.

while driving in city traffic that is

Sounds like everything is working ok to me then, if it's only reaching half gauge it's certainly not overheating ;)
