Hi there

Last few weeks my car has been stalling at lights when im just driving along etc, Its an auto VS SS.

Took it to the mechanic and he couldnt find anything wrong with it. He an i couldnt start it and it seemed the battery was flat, but then it started and there was no issues. Battery is not flat.

Last night it stopped on the outlet, And could not be started, the key would not even turn in the ignition lights wouldnt work could even switch on my hazard lights, when i did get it started all lights worked fine. I got it almost home and it stopped again, but started straight away but now the indicators dont work.

Any ideas on wot this might be? as the mechanic had no idea.

Regards

Chris

No i hav not

Is it under the guard itself, or under the bonnet near the guard near the battery?

Ill have a look tonight anyway.

Cheers!

if you lost all power and had nothing then its definitely a power supply or earth problem..

go over the whole loom from the battery and check everything is tight,( terminals, earths etc.) there will be a few of them around the engine bay, on the block etc.
and check all your fuses,

normally things that are hard to work out are easy to fix. check all the basics first and let us know how u go.

yeah first thought is power..
either the earth.. or loose terminals but i assume the mechanic woulda checked the battery terminals..

possible reason why the indicators wont come on now would be the earth cutting in and out may cause fuses to blow...

Hi there

Had a look at the earth cable near the battery which was secure. Battery terminals are tight. Had a look at all the fuses but ill check em again in better light.

The key wont even turn in the ignition now! the key unlocks the doors and locks em, But wont turn. Lights work, electric windows work. just cant get the key to turn to test anything. Any other ideas?

Ill have a look over the loom tonight.

Cheers

If the key won't turn in the ignition you either have a problem with the ignition lock barrel itself or a badly worn key.

Ok. Could this be related to the problem with the car stalling out aswell?
Cheers

if its in the wiring loom then it could be related.

when you say it "stalls"
is it dying over a second or is it instant like when turning key off at the ignition or what?

Straight away, so I'll be driving along and lose the power steering, look down at the dash and the accessories lights are on. Engines off.
