Hello everyone.

I wanted to finally get some anwsers & I hope to get them from here :)

I was wanting to upgrade my VR | 1994 | Comm | V6 | Acclaim | Sedan | 4 Speed Auto |

1) Can some one tell me what Gear Box' from 5 to 6 Speed Auto fit on the VR Acclaim?
2) And which ones would fit if I get a V8 Engine prior to a transmission change as well?
3) What V8 Engines can I convert my V6 VR from by having an upgrade to a V8?
4) V8 Engine Prices with fitting (approximattely if unsure)?

If you know of any places that may help me out, please include their Web Site & E-Mail Address below, many thanks..

Ok i can answer some but not all for ya mate.

1) Pass
2) Pass
3) Anything after the year of your vr will be legal in the vr but if you go into LS1 territory i'm sure a engineer will need to be brought into it, so any 5 litre motor from vr up should be fine but you could get away with a ealier efi 5 litre if wanted. also need to change the K-frame to the v8 one as there different so might be best to find a smashed v8 car and do a swap
4) prices change for all v8s mate, best bet is as said before buy a smashed v8 car and convert it that way. my v8 owes me less $500 after i sold everything off the car and i still have parts around and thats a vs v8 motor with low k's. and auto box
As for the conversion price it'd be cheaper to do it your self other wise it'd end up being cheaper to buy a v8 model and sell the current v6 car

You see I've spent close to $19K with repairs, parts & upgrades/mods so far. There'll be no way I'll be swapping over my car unless everything was stripped over to the other and I am no mechanic otherwise I guess this could have been an option indeed! I was looking @ Centrifugial Superchargers just recently, if I get that instead the V8 Engine. How much HP will I be losing for not having a V8+Supercharger together? You know what I mean?

19k she must be a sweet ride after spending that much?????
i wouldn't bother changing the auto box if ur gunna keep the v6
supercharge the 6 with a kit from capa and shift kit the auto
of corse ur never gunna keep up with the blown v8's but u'll be close

I must say you Tasmanians are more passionate about cars than the other Aus states I think.. I am getting more feedback on here than from the other 3 Forums that I am on with the same topic!!

What about going to a 5 Speed Auto Gear Box and just keeping the 3.8 ltr with a Supercharger kit alone? Would this be possible? As on Forum 'just commodores' they said I'd need a 6.0 ltd engine ot handle a 6 Speed Auto Gear Box.. What are your thoughts??

better of sticking with the 4 speed. converting to a 5 speed auto would be way to much work. may aswell just keep the 4 speed and manualise it or go for a manual conversion
