Hey Guys,

Was watching the Taraga Wrest Point down in Tassie today and after all the cars had gone through we was walking back to my mates place when we seen a R35 GTR (Dough nut king one) Crashed down a bank into the bushes, so we went and helped him and ended up getting our tractor to pull it out! anyways i got a few photos of it.

Pretty interesting talking to the driver and seeing the car he said he got the car into a slide and couldnt bring it back, it was only running stock street tyres as he couldnt get hold of slicks for it before the event so it was a hand full apparently!! He smashes the oil cooler off (Not leaking) smashes the 2 intercoolers and bend the radiator, suspension seemed to be in okay order and engine still started and it drove a little bit. No one was injured in the accident (Very Lucky Tho!)

Heres a few Pics.

Would put more up but only have a small upload limit :(

From what I've read in all the motoring magazines and seen on all the motoring TV shows, if you can't keep one of those new GTRs in check you probably shouldn't be driving it at all.

Mind you though a lot of journos are saying that the factory tyres are what make the difference, and when that thing was in Targa Tas last year I seem to recall a story about how he got a puncture in one of the said tyres and trying anything else completely ruined the car. Whatever.

More to the point I think is the fact that they come with 19inch rims standard to clear the brakes and nobody makes a good performance or race tyre in the right size for them.
If they could step back to 18's they would be fine for tyres but then the wheels wont fit over the brakes.

^^ They are probably like those Lambos that crash... Don't handle real well when the wheels aren't touching the ground..lol

Which is actually funny that you mention that...

They are actually looking at getting rid of said Lambo in order to buy one of these GTR's.

Toyo R888 come in a range of widths/profiles in 19"

Havent looked into it, but im sure there'd be Yokies, Bridgestone, Michelin etc come in 19" also - Seeing as most performance cars are coming out with wheels this size now anyway, and alot being destined for the track, these companies would be mad to not have a tyre in that market....

Surely there'd be a size somewhere close to what they require? Cant be as difficult as trying to find right widths/profiles for a Porsche (4WD) - they require specific rolling diameter (different front to rear) to suit the different diff ratios....

Back on topic - Does look like a nice (affordable) event, will be looking into entering next year. Sadly wont be able to in the 86 - Too much work done to it. Will have to be in something else..... "Dad, for next year's once annual Alfa outing, can I enter it in targa?!" Response >>> <_<

I apologise...
The guys that ran the GTR last year in Targa must have been very much mistaken when they tried to find better tyres to fit their car when they were getting ready for the event.

I shall shoot em through your number so you can sort em out this year hey???

Is that what it was???

I knew they were big and there was much discussion about it elsewhere on the net.
