I think that this article is written by someone who does not access or use the full power of the car. As an example - pops owns a superv6 and never goes past 1/4 throttle and 2000rpm because the thing is a "monster" So much torque that he is afraid of revving the thing in case he ends up in the next state. To pops the v6 is super grunty off idle. It is very responsive too. So when he gets in a gen3 he notes that at the same throttle it is gutless, and he has to "work the engine real hard to get it as fast as his v6!"
Funny thing is i know pops and his super fast superv6. Does not believe a word i have to say about how the v8 is more fuel efficient and will absolutely kill the v6 for acceleration, but the throttle response is very different - it is less grunty at 1/4 throttle because it is programmed that way. The v6 at 3/4 throttle is a very different proposition to the v8 - the performance is reversed.
Can't be bothered arguing with pops anymore. He can eat my dust!

Dont be sorry you will be stoked........quote "This reinforces the claim that "Traffic Light to Traffic Light" a modified Supercharged V6 will always take out a Gen III V8". I beg to differ i would love to see a super six line up next to Dwaynes ute, the ute has had minimal modifications, but they have been done in the rite places. Lets face it this ute has not had any engine mods (YET) there for it is a stock vy maloo with a very well thought out tune and bolt on modification list. I would love to see any super six beat it from light to light... V8 gen3 laggy down low ?? come for a ride some day. i know its not exactly a stocker but neither is a modified super six..

yep me to.

have to say when i sell mine it will be a v8 or nothing.

dont get me wrong i love the power i get outta mine and would happily have a go at an ls1 at the lights.

but you'll no doubt get more power from a modded 8 than a super6.

the thing is i brought my super6 vy series 2 03 model for 18K standard 171 kw have spent 2g on it and pushing 220 kw my dad recently brought o3 cv8r monaro for 30K and it only puts out 240 standard....... hang on i have still got an extra 10g to mod my 6 up 20kw? i could get an intercooler 17 psi boost and a stroker kit to a 4.2 and a tune for that muhc and be punching out near on 300+ kw
[/quote

Lol mate no offense but your dreaming ! I had a Super6 in my Vx and i spent over 20k on the motor alone, I had a 4.2ltr Stroker kit, Forged low compression pistons, a mild cam, A Mase engineering Mega Blizzard Intercooler and was running a 17psi pulley on my blower. My Vx berlina made 205.7rwkw and it had the works, A twin 3" exhaust, High flow cats, extractors, everything you can think of. And yes it did have alot of low down torque and did accelerate quite quick..... BUT I now own a Series 2 VY SV8 and all iv'e done is a full twin 2.5 exhaust, high flow cats, Pacemaker Tri-Y extractors, a OTR and Mafless tune, And she put's out 235rwkw's and runs high 12's in full street trim all day every day, and ive spent under $3000 on the motor. The beutiful thing about the Ls1 isn't its performance standard, It's the potential it has to make power. No six will EVER respond to mod's like the 5.7 does, They are so heavily detuned from the factory you just can't compare a standard and a tuned Ls1...My VY SV8 will munch even the most heavily worked super6's for breakfast any day of the week... So see how far your 10k will get you with your super6 lol NOT FAR, or should i say NOT FAST anyway. The 6 is a boy's toy, You want REAL HP buy a V8.

205rwkw? thas not much for the mods, mine had 217rwkw and it only had a 17psi pulley, cooler and roller rockers, and a decent exhaust.
